[NTLUG:Discuss] phpMyAdmin error

I am attempting to learn / install phpMyAdmin ro MySQL.  Installing on 
FC3, and getting an error of:
  
*Parse error*: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in 
*/var/www/html/phpMyAdmin/config.inc.php* on line *74

*I installed the tarball in the document root (/var/www/html/) and ran 
tar on it, where it created its own directory - phpMyAdmin.... (this was 
renamed to eliminate the version number).  I edited the config.inc.php 
file to specify the directory path 
(http://www.steamed.ricepad.org/phpMySQL).  Since I am in the learning 
curve, and running only on the local host, it appears that I do not need 
to make any other modifications. 

I then selected the index.php file in the phpMyAdmin directory in the 
browser.  I obtained a screen that specified that I had and error, and 
then clicked on the link in the window that specified the above error.

Would appreciate any insight and help that can be forwarded.
