You are of course, welcome. While it is nice to know that I was able to
help in some small way, having never actually done the operations you
had in mind, I found the comments by Steve to be more detailed and
accurate, and most informative and interesting. With a thank you to you
for asking the question, and to Steve for his answer, my use of Gimp has
been expanded too.
