That's extremely important, as the search result I referenced mentioned 
the 2.4 series, but I thought "No way, he's got to have a more modern 
kernel." :-)

The article also had a reply from a guy who said upgrading to 2.6.2 
fixed it for him.  So I'd say you need to upgrade.  Just my opinion, 
realizing you may have other very valid reasons for running what you do.
