A few years back, RH shipped with two separate compilers, one for the
kernel and one for everything else.  Quite a headache for a lot of
folks. I don't remember the details (I'm sure there are people here
that can recall version numbers and the political bickering that led
to this decision), but it was pretty much the proverbial straw that
prompted me (and many others) to look elsewhere for a distro.

One would think RH would learn from its previous mistakes.
