Not a clue.  Sounds like something physically wrote across
the drive... you know like:

cat >/dev/hda </dev/urandom

or something like that.  Sounds unrecoverable.

I'd do a ddrescue (if that even works on it)... you might
be able to get something (I'm not optimistic though).
