I just in stalled a Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router to go with the
new cable modem, and the router insist on applying DHCP to the internal
network - assigning addresses on the private network, rather than
allowing static addresses. That's OK for my Windows machines, but I am
stumbling on the Linux side.

I am running Red Hat 6.2, and I have been trying to use the Network
Configurator in the Control Panel (/usr/bin/control-panel), without a
lot of success. I can access the router itself from Linux (I used a
Linux box to configure the router), and I can ping the router from a
Linux box. I just cannot get out to the internet (the browser cannot
even find google), so I must be doing something wrong - maybe several
somethngs.

Please, if you can help, start by assuming I don't know much and give me
all the hints you can.
Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions you can offer.
