[general observation - such a question is sort of asking for a religious
war, but I shall recommend against such, and I promise my answer isn't
intended to be such]

In the end, software is the deciding factor - what does one need to run,
and what OS runs that best, or in some cases, simply what OS does it run
on - one doesn't always have that much choice.

Once an OS is selected, by whatever reasoning one may care to apply to
the process, the rest may be said to come under the phrase "what is, is."

Said another way: I don't believe I should make my choice of OS based
on hard drive formating, but I might choose a hard drive based on the
size after formating by the OS of my choice.

Hope this helps

Fred James
