A good starting point is---
<<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_systems>>
There has been a excellent series of articles by Daniel Robbins, who
at that time was President/CEO of Gentoo, starting at---
<<http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-fs.html>>
The articles are from 2001 and so are a bit dated. The main focus is
ReiserFS but Daniel compares it to others. He also talks about the
trade-offs required to make your file system have the performance
characteristics you feel give you what you want.
The Sun ZFS filesystem is a coming thing. Some starting points are---
<<http://www.opensolaris.org/os/announcements/?monthYear=November+2005>>
<<http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/>>
<<http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/demos/basics/>>
<<http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/source/>>
There is a ZFS Blog out there somewhere. I can't find my link at the moment.
A very interesting read is---
