I think you're "making a mountain out of a mole hill".

Why not just save them with your browser? I just did, (with Firefox)
and it only took about 3 minutes, it's only about 5 pages, (the index
page and the 4 parts), and firefox captured the related files into
subdirectories for use when viewing the material.
Here's what I have:
Index of file:///home/terry/temp/
Up to higher level directory
File: FM3-19.40 TABLE OF CONTENTS.html 40 KB 05/19/2006 05:29:58 PM
Directory: FM3-19.40 TABLE OF CONTENTS_files 05/19/2006 05:29:58 PM
File: ch1.htm 58 KB 05/19/2006 05:30:50 PM
Directory: ch1_files 05/19/2006 05:30:50 PM
File: ch3.htm 68 KB 05/19/2006 05:31:53 PM
Directory: ch3_files 05/19/2006 05:31:53 PM
File: ch7.htm 95 KB 05/19/2006 05:32:27 PM
Directory: ch7_files 05/19/2006 05:32:27 PM
File: ch9.htm 71 KB 05/19/2006 05:32:45 PM
Directory: ch9_files 05/19/2006 05:32:45 PM

Was pretty easy,... (now I'll see how many milliseconds I can take to
delete it):
rm -rf /home/terry/temp
:)
