[NTLUG:Discuss] OT:external ip addresses and ipcop

Greetings.

I have an ipcop firewall currently set up. Network, mail servers, web servers etc are port-forwarded behind the firewall/gateway.

I am having problems with reverse dns on our mail server since the outgoing ip address is the firewall address, not the mail server ip address.

I have google'd, and have found that ipcop only allows one external outbound ip address.

I am familiar with Checkpoint and have read up on Smoothwall, which appears to be the commercial version of ipcop.

We have run Checkpoint in the past, but it's licensed is based on it's wan ip address, and won't connect to a different ip address without a license change. Wish I knew that before we changed ISP's... :> Nothing like pre-planning.

Can anyone recommend another firewall solution or a workaround that will make the reverse domain entries make sense?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Later,

Monty
