Don't know if someone has shared this already (as I haven't read the whole
thread) - but many cable providers only want you to use one computer...and
they 'key' your machine by it's MAC address...so when you plugged in the
new machine (probably with a different network card) the MAC address was
different.  You can specify the MAC address of the new card (to be the MAC
address of the old one) and then try to re-connect.
