Other tricks in this situation.  Say "I want to connect from a PC where 
I don't have the freedom to install your software" (it's true, Linux 
isn't going to run their Windows software...)  Next, ask "Could you give 
me the various settings I need to configure a connection?"  Hopefully 
this will allow you to get any significant configuration information 
(like DNS addresses, etc.)
