Chris,
thanks for the quick response!

That's what I thought (and has been that way for awhile)...just wasn't
sure if some of the newer stuff was different. Will stick with stock
frequencies for stability/longevity
> Not sure on all of it... but I think DDR still performs better than
DDR2.... just costs more. I think there are some AM2 benchmarks that
seem to show this. I hear what kills DDR2 is latency with

yes...but shouldn't that improve over time (for the DDR2 stuff) - as it
has for the DDR stuff...so if someone is buying a new box today (with an
eye for upgrades in the future) - wouldn't it seem like a better idea to
go DDR2 Motherboard now? As the likelyhood of get a 'good' price on DDR
ram will only get worst? (like trying to buy/find PC133 stuff now)?

X2 (non AM2)... I think I'd rather go Intel Conroe/Woodcrest right now.
Maybe there is something compelling about the AM2?? I just haven't seen
it.
guess I'm looking at it from a future upgradability standpoint?!? But
haven't done much research on the Intel side...any good/convencing
articles for the Intel side?
> If the AM2 plaform becomes significantly cheaper than the older 940
socketed scenario, then I might go for it
I think it's going to get much cheaper when AMD implements thier new
pricing plan...you (should) be able to get a pretty decent AMD X2
dual-core for $150..about $100 for MB...pretty good machine?
thx - Dave
