I have updated the handout with some of the comments which came up at 
the meeting and posted it along with the diagram if anyone is interested.

On another subject, thanks for the input about a motherboard and video 
card, things now work much better.  The video card is recognized and 
responds just fine, I can now mount floppies without a problem and the 
machine fully shuts down.  For those who don't know what this is about I 
made a "purchasing mistake" in buying a motherboard based on a VIA 
chipset and then asked what to buy after getting fed up with it.
