Ahhh yes, I knew there was a better way, or a few better ways;
Cited here - one better way, and one MUCH better way.
I'll start over. [Thanks very much for the good information.]
I wanted to [quickly] learn a good [and efficient] way to do a backup
over network anyway - whether of a whole partition, or just a
directory.
Just as an experiment, I might even save the new image in addition to
the one I have now, and do checksum to see if they are both the same
[or accurate].
And next time I'll use hard-wire connection. I think it took about 3
or 4 hours over the wireless link via nfs - not sure exactly, but was
LONG time.

A must-have accessory for the serious laptoper - very good!
I don't know if I'll get one just yet, I think I'll try and do it over
the network [this time].

Very interesting organization - it appears they rely pretty heavily on
Linux - we need something like that in the DFW area, IMO.
