I have a similar device and have results similar to Chris's.  Additionally, 
I think it's important to make note that in order to use this or any other 
serial port on the system you need to be root (obviously shouldn't) or be a 
member of the group that owns the device.  In my distros, the group-owner 
is UUCP.  So I need to make myself a member of group UUCP to access the 
serial port.

Check your dmesg when you plug the device in to see what device it sets 
itself up to.  If your distro doesn't do that automatically... condolences. 
 I'm not sure what I'd do, but it would probably involve doing the mknod 
/dev/ttyUSB0 and then doing some stuff with /etc/modprobe.conf to make it 
all work as it should.
