Good advice from everybody, thanks.
For the future:
I have two Maxtor SATA drives, 80 Gigs, the first for MS, the 2nd for
FC3. It turns out these are regarded as SCSI drives, and are sda and
sdb.
So, I am able to access sda2 from FC3 with
mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/xp
I created the xp directory as root. This gives me access to all my
Windows files, albeit loading the file browser is very slow.
My thinking is to retrieve my xp files to safety, then deal with the
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME later.
The problem was apparently caused when I tried to defrag the Windows
drive. I'm not sure what went wrong.
John
