[NTLUG:Discuss] Apple Openfirmware

I've tried the 'c' trick, no dice. If I do
cmd-option-O-F it will boot to the OF prompt. Then I
issue 'printenv' to see what the currently set
environment variables are. I see from this that
'boot-device' is set to '/AAPL,ROM'.

This particular G3 has 2-9GB scsi drives, one of which
has MacOS 9.0.4 and always wants to boot. It also has
a 40GB ide hdd and an ide cdrom drive.

When I issue the 'devalias' command at the OF prompt I
see entries for scsi, scsi-int, ide0, ide, ata-int,
ide1. From looking aroung in the MacOS I know that the
40GB drive is the master and the cdrom is the slave on
the ide cable.

I have tried to set the 'boot-device' parameter for
ide1, then ide, and then ata-int, and I still cannot
get this machine to boot from cd.

Is there an OF command to retrieve a current list of
bootable devices. Also, I downloaded an Ubuntu server
ppc iso on an x86 MS 2003 box and burned it with nero.
None of my x86 boxes will read the cd, but I can see
it if I boot into MacOS.

Not sure where to head next.
