[NTLUG:Discuss] MP3 players and Linux

I have been ripping audio CD's on my SuSE9.3. The tool I'm using creates
".ogg" files
and ".wma" files.
The .ogg files look compressed and the ".wma" files are much bigger,
probably straight pcm
with no coding.
I want to put the ".ogg" files onto an mp3 player. When I look at the
Sandisk players, they don't say anything about playing .ogg files, just
".wma" and ".wav".
But the Samsung and iRiver players do say they play the ".ogg" format.
So what's a player that works well with Linux?
And do the MP3 players appear on the Linux desktop as a USB drive, or do you
need special software to talk to these from Linux?
