By default in KDE (at least the one that comes with SUSE),
one can press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+PgDn to do a shutdown.
I use this all the time -- it's incredibly convenient.

There's also Ctrl+Alt+Shift+PgUp to do a reboot.

There are a lot of customizable shortcut sequences in KDE--
accessible from 
   Personal Settings -> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Shortcuts

But since Ctrl+Alt+Del does a reboot on your system,
I'm guessing you're not using KDE...
