[NTLUG:Discuss] SDLT or LTO

Greetings.

I am about to purchase a tape backup system for archiving and delivery.  I am trying to decide between SDLT 600 and LTO 3.

This will be used on a Red Hat ES5 box.

Any observations, opinions or pitfalls I should watch out for?  I have experience with the older DLT 4000 and 7000 series, and I like the fact that the format isn’t helical scan, but I don't want to get hung up on that.  Any thoughts on interchangeability, robustness?  Does one play with Linux better than the other?
