I may be new to the list, but I have plenty of questions. Thanks in
advance for the help!

I'm running a DHCPD server on Ubuntu Server at home that passes out
addresses in the 10.2.0.100-10.2.0.254 range. The server appears to be
working fine, but I get this in syslog...

Jun 7 19:59:39 PrivateServer dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 10.2.0.253 from
00:15:f2:ce:9a:55 (KellerDesktop) via eth1
Jun 7 19:59:39 PrivateServer dhcpd: DHCPACK on 10.2.0.253 to
00:15:f2:ce:9a:55 (KellerDesktop) via eth1
Jun 7 20:00:10 PrivateServer dhcpd: BOOTREQUEST from 00:d0:97:53:a8:40
via eth1: BOOTP from dynamic client and no dynamic leases
Jun 7 20:00:44 PrivateServer dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 10.2.0.253 from
00:15:f2:ce:9a:55 (KellerDesktop) via eth1

Jun 7 20:01:24 PrivateServer dhcpd: BOOTREQUEST from 00:d0:97:53:a8:40
via eth1: BOOTP from dynamic client and no dynamic leases
Jun 7 20:01:35 PrivateServer dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 10.2.0.253 from
00:15:f2:ce:9a:55 (KellerDesktop) via eth1
Jun 7 20:01:35 PrivateServer dhcpd: DHCPACK on 10.2.0.253 to
00:15:f2:ce:9a:55 (KellerDesktop) via eth1
Jun 7 20:01:37 PrivateServer dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 10.2.0.254 from
00:0c:6e:fd:33:55 (MediaFrontend) via eth1
Jun 7 20:01:37 PrivateServer dhcpd: DHCPACK on 10.2.0.254 to
00:0c:6e:fd:33:55 (MediaFrontend) via eth1

My big question here is about the DHCPREQUEST and DHCPACKs from
KellerDesktop and MediaFrontend. They repeat like this for forever.
I've heard of some people even having server crashes from this in the
log, but I'm unable to find a good solution online.

Both KellerDesktop and MediaFrontend have valid IP addresses and appear
to work great. There are several other DHCP clients that do not exhibit
this behavior. Both clients are running Ubuntu Desktop 7.04. The DHCP
server is also running mysql, dns, and ddns. Any insight into what's
causing these two machines to chat with the dhcp server so often would
be most appreciated.

Also, if anyone happens to know, how do I tell my Cisco 3500XL Switch to
stop asking for an IP address?

Thanks for the help in advance.
