Decided to try this since I needed a CentOS installation and would have
enough room on a hard drive if I shrunk a couple of existing
installations. Read about 'move' and 'resize' in parted but ran into
issues.
===============
A partition can not be resized if it is mounted. As noted in other
discussions, use Knoppix or other live CD that does not mount the hard
drive partitions, then use the qtparted or other utility to modify the
size. Afterwards, reboot to the normal OS and all should be ok.
