Fair enough. From the about me page on Ian's blog
(http://ianmurdock.com)

I?m chief OS platform strategist at Sun Microsystems and chair of the
Linux Standard Base (LSB), the Linux platform interoperability standard.

Prior to joining Sun, I was CTO of the Linux Foundation (formed through
the merger of OSDL and the Free Standards Group, where I was CTO).

Prior to joining the Free Standards Group, I was cofounder, chairman,
and chief strategist of Progeny, a Linux distribution vendor that builds
custom Linux platforms for companies building server appliances and
other Linux powered products.

I founded Debian in 1993 and led the project from its inception to 1996.
(The name ?Debian? is a concatenation of ?Deb?, my wife?s name, and
?Ian?.)

That should give you an idea of what Ian did prior to joining Sun. Now
that he has had a chance to take a look around Sun I thought it might be
interesting to invite him to Dallas and share his thoughts about
what he might try to do with OpenSolaris and what if anything it might
mean to parts of the Linux community. He has certainly been vocal
about things like installer experiences and packing mechanisms.

EXCELLENT...
Now how do we convince him to extend his visit to a week. Thank you for
all of us that had many other things going to do an obvious web search.
Some of us ancient ones do not think of looking to blogs, we just
built it for the younger generation to use.

Anyways, now that I (and the many others) have a better understanding,
it would be a fantastic idea to have Ian visit the DFW area. If it can
be accomplished, we should all work together to present the best of what
we represent in this part of the country and have a great time learning.
I for one would really appreciate the opportunity to learn from Ian.

Now the next question is how can all come together and offer a package
for Ian to want to come to. There are many questions. On the part of
NTLUG, I would like to assist in the coordination, and now that DeVry no
longer wishes to have me, I have the time (and I am now open to research
more opportunities (networking and transmission)).
