One Pro for Stateless:
"SOA done right: the Amazon strategy"

[Decompose the problem]
So what is the key to scalable services? State management. Saving
state to a database guarantees scaling failure. So how do you keep
some having to save state? By decomposing the problem so it can be
solved with smaller, simpler tools. Simple tools are more scalable.

The Big Con for Stateless:
At the moment it still requires rewriting all applications not written
for a stateless environment in order to run them, because most
applications require a known state to work from.

Stateless is a coming thing and certainly worth looking into. Whether
it solves your configuration desires depends on the applications you
have to run.

There are a number of ways to configure an Applications Service
Provider (ASP) or just an Applications Server.
