Not sure what a "selective acknowlegement issue" is, but;
I went to a friend/neighbor's and let him test drive LinuxMint - just as a
Live CD, I didn't offer to install it or anything but I did leave him the CD
- we did several  speed tests and then rebooted back to his XP system and
tested again, (several more)  -  the XP tests were all noticeably slower.
I did not offer any kind of explanation but we both just kind of scratched
our heads and assumed that there must be something wrong with his
installation of XP.  (Tests were done on dfw.speakeasy.net )
