Sorry for top posting, I forgot myself.
I do suspect that memory might be the problem, Russ.   256 mb is the
minimum, and I just helped someone load Ubuntu on a laptop with 256mb
ram.  It wasn't fun.  He had a lot of patience, though, and I think he
finally had to go back to version 6.06.  I wouldn't even try the
latest Ubuntu, 7.04.
