how about the ASUS TX98 series mother boards found in the hp pavilion 
machines? i have one of these that would be a beautiful linux desktop machine 
for just email and such. but when trying to install xubuntu 7.04 from 
alternate install it goes through and then says "no valid kernel" and halts.

same with debian etch

this machine would be my example of older still usable hardware that doesnt 
seem supported.
