Yeah me too!
On the other hand, I have heard where some people had collected a bunch
of free or inexpensive USB flash drives and a bunch of free or
inexpensive USB (self-powered) hubs to create an amusingly large RAID.
As a source of educational fun, perhaps one of the club's activities
might be centered around creating some sort of USB flash RAID device!
Many people can contribute to the task with a temporary loan of their
own gear for the hour or two that it might actually take. You can take
pictures and document the process and immortalize the exercise in
geekdom. Who knows, you might even get a mention on Slashdot! :)
