[NTLUG:Discuss] my raid disk/partition size seems to have mysteriously changed...can't fsck

Hi,

I am running SuSe 10.2, connected to a large Dell SAS RAID array.

I have a filesystem that will not do an fsck. I get superblock errors,
and this error, when trying to use an alternate superblock:

# e2fsck -b 98304 /dev/sdb1
e2fsck 1.39 (29-May-2006)
The filesystem size (according to the superblock) is 731774799 blocks
The physical size of the device is 194903887 blocks
Either the superblock or the partition table is likely to be corrupt!
Abort? yes

The sfdisk command shows this:

# sfdisk -sl

Disk /dev/sdb: cannot get size

Disk /dev/sdb: 0 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors/track
Units = cylinders of 8225280 bytes, blocks of 1024 bytes, counting from 0

Device Boot Start End #cyls #blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 0+ 97057- 97058- 779615548 83 Linux
/dev/sdb2 0 - 0 0 0 Empty
/dev/sdb3 0 - 0 0 0 Empty
/dev/sdb4 0 - 0 0 0 Empty
Disk /dev/sdc: cannot get size

Disk /dev/sdc: 0 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors/track
Units = cylinders of 8225280 bytes, blocks of 1024 bytes, counting from 0

Device Boot Start End #cyls #blocks Id System
/dev/sdc1 0+ 157791- 157792- 1267461403 83 Linux
/dev/sdc2 0 - 0 0 0 Empty
/dev/sdc3 0 - 0 0 0 Empty
/dev/sdc4 0 - 0 0 0 Empty
total: 142737408 blocks

This is a filesystem on a ~3TB file system.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks!!

David
