    We use bacula at my work place to handle our Dell ML6000 series tape library. Bacula is pretty flexible for running jobs on various machines. We run it on Linux and Win32, though I think it supports others.

   For GFS do you mean Google File System or Grandfather, Father, Son backup rotations? If you mean the latter, then that's what we are doing at our place. It seems to work well for our backup requirements. It's easy to setup in bacula, they give an example of it on their page.

    One gripe I do have about it though is that you cannot copy a tape to another tape easily. They offer a "migrate" option, which copies the data off one tape to another but then deletes the data off the source tape. This made our offsite backup routine a chore. So, bacula has a lot of nice features, but they are still improving it.
