[NTLUG:Discuss] Thunderbird: Is there a way to re-use the same app instance to view pictures?

I'm running KDE on CentOS 4.6 and using Thunderbird 2.0.0.6.  My email 
format is text to avoid any HTML security risks.  I switched from using 
Gimp to Kview for opening pictures because it seemed more efficient 
(loads quicker, didn't need editing).  However, every time I get 
multiple images I get a new instance of Kview for each image.  Is there 
a configuration I can change to cause each opened image to replace the 
previous one in the same instance of Kview?
