I ask for explanations and give no detail.. how DARE I?

It's a vmware guest machine.  The date somehow went almost two days into 
the future..then when I ran ntpdate update the time got set correctly 
but then the uptime was hozen.   I didn't think that uptime could be 
modified in anyway.  I suppose that doesn't exclude corruption, though.
