[NTLUG:Discuss] Utility to monitor performance of Linux server

I remember being referred to a linux utility that allowed me to log the
various utilization statistics of a machine. It wasn't tload or top,
but some other utility with some name that (obviously) didn't lend
itself to being remembered. I remember having to run the program in a
loop - outputting the results to a file so that I could gather
statistics over time...like % of time the processor was waiting on the
disk to flush, % of time the disk was active....etc...

Does anyone know what utility that was? I've 'whatis'ed in [/|/usr/]
[bin|sbin] but can't seem to locate it.
