[NTLUG:Discuss] slightly OT: WebCam

Linux 2.6.17 or 2.6.2.9 (specifically Mandriva 2007 and 2008, if that 
makes a difference)
Camera: Logitech QuickCam Messenger - reported to be supported by 
spca50x with a quality rating of 4 stars
(more details upon request, of course)

Has anyone had any luck getting a WebCam running on these or similar 
Linux releases?  Specifically, while the driver is reported to work, I 
haven't been able to fine (a) an RPM, or (a) source code that would 
compile (at least not without major headaches and tooth pulling).
