[NTLUG:Discuss] ATT wireless internet

I use the Novatel Wireless HSDPA Modem. It is a miniPCI device but
appears to the computer as USB serial ports. I find that identifying
the serial ports and setting up regular dialup commands will do the
trick. It might be helpful if I supplied you with my wvdial related
files and such. You might also find UMTSMon to be of use. Just Google
for that and you'll find a very cool utility in the making that will
work with quite a few wireless phone devices out there.

One word of caution. When using UMTSMon, do NOT attempt to assign a
carrier to the modem even though it may already be locked to AT&T. The
problem I caused myself is that it no longer automatically links up to
the nearest cell tower. I have to scan and connect each time of I
change locations.
