I am pretty sure that it is just a standard IDE or SATA drive (not
exactly sure which, probably depends on how new it is). The hard part
will likely be getting the case open to put in the hard drive in a
condition that it will snap back together. If the drive inside is
dead, though, there isn't much to be hurt. I would just open it up
and see what is inside. Worst case senario, you just have a broken,
non-working MyBook, much like you do now.
