Weird. Works on Ubuntu, SuSE, Fedora for me.
Honestly, I'd call UTD and ask. They encourage students to use Linux. In
fact, they are just now starting to put Linux systems in open labs. I'm
sure they could give you a direct answer. Also, since the way they do their
configurations is so weird, make sure you have IEEE 802.1x turned on. I
remember having to start weird services like Secure Server Certification
Authority.
Ask your son to take it to Mr. Steinhorst (he's a CS prof who'd know what to
do). If he's doing bridge, he'll probably know him.
