Openfire makes a pretty good and flexible product. We use it at my
work. We chose openfire because it had logging and reporting
capabilities. We had to purchase the "enterprise" plugin at first, but
it is now opensource also. I see where it can integrate with your AD
but currently its just our dept so we do not have it configured that
way. Also it can act as an IM proxy for any other messaging protocols
such as, yahoo, msn, etc and even irc. I would strongly recommend it.
