I use the jabberd2 server software, currently at version 2.2.3.

I've also looked at ejabberd, which is written in erlang, and
OpenFire, which is written in Java.   All should run MS-Windows
as well as any UNIX varient.

All of them can authenticate against LDAP, which means Active
Directory, if you're a windows shop.
