I received no replies from my previous post except
the one stating what I said was Greek to him so let me be more to the
point.
When one searches SPM (that is the acronym for
package manager not Greek) for lets say KDE desktop on can preview the short
description, but is not quite sure this will give him the entire capability he
desires i.e, its dependencies as well..
One sees green boxes with red arrows which I assume
indicates installed and one sees white boxes with red arrows (which indicate
what)?
Going the terminal route:
allen at allen-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get install Kubuntu_desktop
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package Kubuntu_desktop (underline is mine)
So what I have is a boot to ubuntu an opening kubuntu screen and a gnome desktop. (rather interesting)
While I deem it extremely important to get out of this mess I would appreciate an actual explanation or a place to get one that explains packsge manager dependencies and how you know you got the whole thing before install and not be faced with wondering what did I not do.
Thanks Allen
