[NTLUG:Discuss] Error in packsge managers

Was installing a game and power was cut off only instantly, but enough to cause me a new compelling problem. Terminal or none of the package managers will allow me to do anything until i 

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. 
E: _cache->open() failed, please report

So I went to terminal

allen at allen-laptop:~$ dpkg --configure -a
dpkg: requested operation requires superuser privilege
allen at allen-laptop:~$

Do not have a clue about this superuser privilege. What must I do?
