Looking back at a previous post, I see that you spoke of ubuntu /
kubuntu. If that is your OS, do this:

First make sure that it's not already running; Bring up a terminal and type:

  iwconfig

If it only says "no wireless extensions", you still need to install
software. If not, you're done. (you might show us what it says). If
it shows info, (something like a bunch of info for wlan0), then just
go to the network manager and tell it to connect to an AP.

But, if you still need to install software, (it only says "no wireless
extensions"), first try this:

  sudo apt-get install bcm43xx-fwcutter

and then

  iwconfig

to see if it's loaded up and working

If you still need to do more, try this:

   sudo /usr/share/b43-fwcutter/install_bcm43xx_firmware.sh

But... it's probably working by now, right?

If not try:

  sudo apt-get remove bcm43xx-fwcutter

  sudo apt-get install b43xx-fwcutter

(I'm not sure what the difference between b43xx-fwcutter and
bcm43xx-fwcutter but I think b43xx-fwcutter is newer and not sure
what "newer" implies.)
