[NTLUG:Discuss] Adding a second distro

I presently run ubuntu with a kubuntu desktop, dual boot with XP home.
I may be a relative newbie, but I am a curious adventuresome sort who 
would like to run a second Linux.
The boot sequence presently is ubuntu 1st and XP second.
In reality the sequence is not important to me, however learning how to 
be assured how to establish said sequence is paramount.
Additionally I realize we all have our favorites and presently I have 
not a clue which one to try. But it would be interesting to hear some 
suggestions, pros and cons.
