Hi Gilbert.
The drive does require an external power supply just to activate, which
is operational.
<vent>
This "worked on an older distro, but not any more" thing is highly
frustrating. Its the big reason I do NOT like upgrading, and will put
off as long as possible, I have to spend LOTS of time (days if I am
lucky, usually weeks/months) figuring out what broke, and what I can do
about it, if anything. Only reason I do, beats dealing with Virii,
spyware, and that kind of crap (for me, the cost/benefit is, MS stuff
usually works, mostly, so cost effective to purchase but I can't afford
the damage from a Trojan infection, vs Linux "hope I can get enough
working to be able to work effectively", but I don't have to worry about
a client's classified data getting swiped off my machines).
(Note, for an additional example, see "Printer Bafflement" for another
currently outstanding issue, or another thread on my SuSE 11.1 fiasco)
</vent>
Regards,
Steve
