[NTLUG:Discuss] Any idea why I can't remotely access my smoothwall from a Linux web browser?

Hi all,

This has been bugging me for some time, but I've found no answer for
it. I have a Smoothwall 3.0 firewall running on a dedicated old
computer. When I attempt to access it for maintenance, etc, from the
web interface on a Linux box (I have 3 and it does the same on all 3) it
just times out. However, I can go to my wifes Windows computer and
access it just fine. What gives? At first, I thought it might just be
that it wasn't in my hosts.allow file, but I've made certain it's there.

What's even stranger is, it's intermittenly accessible from my Linux
boxen....VERY intermittently, as in almost never. I was actually
surprised when I gained access from my Kubuntu desktop once a few months
ago, but haven't been able to get back in since. Now, I can physically
log into it ok from the console, but the options from the console (to my
knowledge, and, I have to admit, my knowledge is VERY limited on the CLI
on this box) are limited.

The actual URL to get to the box is
http://192.168.0.1:81/cgi-bin/index.cgi with the secure version being
https://192.168.0.1:441/cgi-bin/index.cgi.

What am I missing here? I've tried it from Firefox and Konqueror
too...neither work. It almost seems to be a permissions issue, but I'm
at a loss as to know what it might be, especially since the Win XP box
doesn't seem to have any trouble with it.

Wayne
