I recently saw a random quote pop up that made me remember something
said in a lug meet almost 10yrs ago.
The subject of finding a "GURU" to help with an issue was being
discussed and one of the lug admins said [I think it was Chris
Cox,words as close as I remember]:
"We are all gurus of something in Linux. You get a printer to work
after asking other "guru", rtfm'ing your eyeballs out, maybe even a
reinstall or two. You now know everything to do/not do to get that
printer working on that system. You are THE guru of that printer on
that distro, PERIOD. And everyone here even the corporate sysadmins
will deffer to you on that issue."

This is the quote that made me remember:

An expert is a person who has made all the mistakes that can be
made in a very narrow field.
        Niels Bohr
        Danish physicist (1885 - 1962)

Linux is like ice cream. It comes in many flavors and everyone has
their favorite, but we all get the same smile regardless of which we
choose to scoop.
