Howdy,
  I have not done anything special with it.  I setup a EeePC 1000HD with
the standard battery.  I installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix and I get about
6 hours on a charge.  It actually still shows some charge at that point,
but I have not pushed it to see how far it goes.  And, I was using it
most of that time for writing and browsing.  It was not just sitting
there. Fedora 10 gave me about the same results.
