Do you get any error messages at all?
Do you have GRUG installed for booting?
For GRUB to work it has to find the boot file on the correct partition.
If not, how is your BIOS configured for booting?
On my machines I can set the boot drive in the BIOS.
Always works for IDE drives. Tricky to get to work with SATA drives.
