For anyone interested in learning how the kernel development process
goes, Greg Hartman from Novell/OpenSuse gave a 50 minute talk and Q&A
session last Summer at the Google Tech Talks conference that is
available for review on youtube.

I was very interested to learn how this process works, the scale of
growth, and how some elements (i.e. testing) are/are not accomplished...
For example, I didn't know that the even/odd numbering system for kernel
stable/unstable releases actually went away a few years ago.

As an Ubuntu user for the past several years, I was surprised to learn
that Canonical doesn't do much funding or source code contributions to
kernel development..

Either way, I was pretty impressed at the scale and growth of
development over the past several years.

As always, ymmv..
